Eye Tuesday at Kakunyu
When we’d visited Kakunyu before, we’d noticed that no-one, but NO-ONE, wore specs. It couldn’t possibly have been because everyone has 20:20 vision in Masaka, and so we wondered if there was something we might be able to do…
From that small seed of an idea grew what came to be called Eye Tuesday. 168 people came through the doors of Kakunyu School one day in September 2013, and we gave out 161 pairs of glasses, 12 pairs of sunnies, and drugs to help with eye infections. And we raised 500,000 shillings for the school – around £100.
